Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. We do not disclose it outside our organization unless the law requires us to do so.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, standard server and analytics logs can collect these technical details:
- Page-view dates and times
- Browser name and version
- Referring website, when available
- Device type and operating system
- IP address assigned to the device
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We and our analytics providers use them to understand aggregate traffic, including popular pages and common exit points. A browser can block or remove cookies, though some site functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing errors and other technical faults
- Operating the site and improving load performance
- Displaying advertising that may reflect user interests
- Routing search requests to the selected partner
- Measuring which pages are useful and which need improvement
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site explains where Linn County records are kept, including the sheriff, Circuit Clerk, Missouri State Highway Patrol Central Repository, and Missouri Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, rather than this policy, govern information submitted into their tools. Each provider chooses its retention and disclosure rules. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links can lead to Linn County offices, Missouri court and agency portals, legal resources, or third-party tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination’s policy controls its collection and use of data. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to track activity across websites and select targeted advertisements.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a submitted query
- Advertising networks serving material on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards protect collected data. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that such information was provided, we will take steps to delete it.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide rights over personal data. Missouri’s Sunshine Law, Chapter 610, and criminal-history provisions such as RSMo 43.500 and RSMo 43.527 govern official public records and repository dissemination; they do not turn this private site into a public records custodian. Subject to applicable law, a user may:
- Object to certain forms of processing
- Ask to correct inaccurate personal information
- Request a copy of personal data we hold
- Ask for deletion when the law permits it
Updates to This Policy
This policy may change. A revised version will be posted here with a new effective date, and continued use will be subject to the updated terms.
Effective date: July 30, 2026
